Estokaistanleveys viittaa estokaistan leveyteen eli taajuusalueeseen korkeiden ja matalien rajataajuuksien välillä. Estosuodattimilla on erilaiset vaimennusnopeudet, joita käytetään kuvaamaan signaalin vaimenemisastetta estokaistan alueella suhteessa signaaliin päästökaistan alueella. Joissakin estosuodattimissa voi olla aaltoilua päästökaistan alueella eli signaalin vahvistuksen muutoksia tietyllä taajuusalueella. Aaltoilua voidaan hallita suodattimen suunnittelulla ja optimoinnilla signaalin laadun varmistamiseksi päästökaistan alueella. Estosuodattimilla on tyypillisesti tietyt tulo- ja lähtöimpedanssit, jotka vastaavat signaalilähteen ja kuorman impedanssivaatimuksia.
Kaistanestosuodattimia käytetään laajalti eri aloilla, kuten viestintäjärjestelmissä, äänilaitteissa, vahvistimissa, radiovastaanottimissa jne.
